عقب إطلاق الحكم السلوفيني صافرته معلناً تتويج إسبانيا بلقب مونديال كأس العالم 2026، لم يتمالك لاعبو «التانغو» أنفسهم وامتلأت أعينهم بالدموع مصدومين غير مصدقين ما حدث لهم في النهائي الكبير الذي كان محط أنظار العالم والمسؤولين والقيادات الرياضية والسياسية كافة.

وبعد هدوء عاصفة فقدان اللقب، خرج قائد الأرجنتين «البرغوث» ليونيل ميسي الذي خاض نهائي كأس العالم للمرة الثالثة، الذي كان في غاية الحزن بعد صافرة النهاية، برسالة طويلة عبر حسابه الرسمي بمنصة التواصل الاجتماعي «إنستغرام» قال فيها: «الألم كبير جداً، وسيكون من الصعب أن يلتئم هذا الجرح، لكنني أحتفظ أيضاً بكل اللحظات الجميلة، بالمباريات التي نجحنا في قلب نتائجها بعدما قدّمنا كل ما لدينا، والتي ستبقى خالدة في الذاكرة، وبدعم شعب كامل أسهم، إلى جانب عمل هذه المجموعة وجهدها، في عودتنا مرة أخرى إلى مصاف أفضل منتخبات العالم».

وأضاف: «قد يكون من الصعب اليوم تقدير ما حققناه، لكن هذه المجموعة بلغت نهائي كأس العالم مرتين متتاليتين، شكراً من القلب على كل تحية وكل رسالة، لقد نجحنا مرة أخرى في الاتحاد كبلد واحد، والوقوف جميعاً معاً، نتشارك الفخر الهائل بكوننا أرجنتينيين».

واختتم ميسي رسالته الحزينة بتهنئة لمنتخب إسبانيا قال فيها: «أود أن أهنئ إسبانيا على التتويج باللقب».

Messi concluded his sorrowful message with congratulations to the Spanish national team, saying: "I would like to congratulate Spain on winning the title."
