ارتفعت الحصيلة الرسمية لضحايا الزلزالين المدمّرين اللذين ضربا فنزويلا، الشهر الماضي، إلى 4734 قتيلاً وأكثر من 16740 مصابًا؛ وفق آخر تحديث صادر عن السلطات الفنزويلية وهيئات الإغاثة الدولية.

وأوضح رئيس الجمعية الوطنية خورخي رودريغيز أن معظم المصابين غادروا المستشفيات بعد تلقي العلاج، فيما تواصل فرق الطوارئ عمليات البحث وانتشال الناجين من تحت الأنقاض.

وضرب الزلزالان، بقوة 7.2 و7.5 درجة وبفارق لا يتجاوز 39 ثانية، العاصمة كاراكاس وولاية لا غوايرا المجاورة، متسببين في انهيار مجمعات سكنية شاهقة وتحويلها إلى أكوام من الركام. وقد سجّلت السلطات أكثر من 1275 هزة ارتدادية منذ وقوع الكارثة، ما زاد من تعقيد عمليات الإنقاذ.

وتشير التقديرات الإنسانية إلى أن أكثر من 17,900 شخص فقدوا منازلهم، فيما أعلنت الأمم المتحدة عن مساهمة مالية إضافية بقيمة 298 مليون دولار لتعزيز جهود الإغاثة وتوفير المأوى والغذاء والرعاية الصحية لنحو 1.3 مليون متضرر خلال الأشهر المقبلة.
وتعيش آلاف العائلات في مخيمات مؤقتة بعد فقدان منازلها، وسط نقصٍ في الخدمات الأساسية وضغط كبير على المستشفيات التي تتعامل مع الإصابات والصدمة النفسية.

The official toll of the victims from the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month has risen to 4,734 dead and more than 16,740 injured, according to the latest update from Venezuelan authorities and international relief agencies.

The President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, explained that most of the injured have left the hospitals after receiving treatment, while emergency teams continue their search and rescue operations to pull survivors from under the rubble.

The earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale and occurring just 39 seconds apart, hit the capital Caracas and the neighboring state of La Guaira, causing high-rise residential complexes to collapse into piles of debris. Authorities have recorded more than 1,275 aftershocks since the disaster, complicating rescue operations.

Humanitarian estimates indicate that more than 17,900 people have lost their homes, while the United Nations has announced an additional financial contribution of $298 million to bolster relief efforts and provide shelter, food, and healthcare for approximately 1.3 million affected individuals in the coming months.
