في جوف الصحراء الحارقة، حيث تلتقي طموحات النجاة بقسوة الطبيعة التي لا ترحم، تحولت رحلة البحث عن أمل جديد خارج الحدود إلى مأساة جماعية مروعة. 19 رجلاً خرجوا من قريتهم بحثاً عن الحياة، فكانت نهايتهم الصامتة في أعتى صحاري الأرض حرارة، إثر تعرضهم للعطش الشديد والجفاف تحت وطأة درجات الحرارة القياسية في إقليم نيمروز، الواقع جنوب غربي أفغانستان، أثناء محاولتهم التسلل إلى الأراضي الإيرانية.
وأفاد مدير الإعلام والثقافة في الإقليم، حبيب الله إلهام، بالعثور على جثث 14 شخصاً في منطقة «ريج لالو» التابعة للإقليم القاحل، بعدما أجهز عليهم الإجهاد الحراري ونفاد المياه وسط القفار.
تأتي هذه الفاجعة بعد أيام قليلة من اكتشاف أول خيوط المأساة؛ حيث عُثر سابقاً على جثث خمسة رجال في منطقة «دشت مارغو» (المعروفة محلياً بـ «صحراء الموت»).
وكانت التقارير قد أشارت إلى أن الخمسة كانوا ضمن مجموعة واحدة تضم 19 شخصاً انقطعت أسرارهم، لتتأكد لاحقاً الحقيقة المفجعة بوفاة الفريق بكامله بعد العثور على جثامين بقية المجموعة.
من جانبه، أكد عبد المتوكل توحيدي، المتحدث باسم المحافظة، أن فرقاً من السلطات المحلية بمؤازرة الأهالي نجحت في انتشال الجثامين من قلب الصحراء ونقلها.
وأفادت مصادر محلية ووسائل إعلام أفغانية بأن جميع الضحايا ينتمون لقرية واحدة في ولاية بدغيس الواقعة شمال غربي البلاد، أرسلوا أبناءهم في رحلة شاقة هرباً من الظروف الاقتصادية، لتنتهي رحلتهم عند التخوم الجنوبية.
يُذكر أن إقليم نيمروز المحاذي للحدود الإيرانية والباكستانية يُعد واحداً من أشد مناطق العالم قسوة؛ حيث تتشكل أراضيه من كثبان رملية وصحارٍ قاحلة تتجاوز فيها درجات الحرارة صيفاً حاجز الـ 50 درجة مئوية، ما يجعل قطعها مشياً على الأقدام مغامرة محفوفة بالموت.

The director of media and culture in the province, Habibullah Ilham, reported the discovery of the bodies of 14 individuals in the "Rij Lalo" area of the arid province, after they were claimed by heat exhaustion and lack of water amidst the desolation.
This tragedy comes just a few days after the first threads of the disaster were uncovered; previously, the bodies of five men were found in the "Dasht Margo" area (locally known as the "Desert of Death").
Reports indicated that the five were part of a single group of 19 individuals whose fates became unclear, later confirming the heartbreaking truth of the entire team's demise after the bodies of the remaining group were discovered.
For his part, Abdul Mutawakkil Tawhidi, the spokesperson for the province, confirmed that teams from the local authorities, with the support of residents, succeeded in retrieving the bodies from the heart of the desert and transporting them.
Local sources and Afghan media reported that all the victims belonged to the same village in Badghis province, located in the northwest of the country, who sent their sons on a grueling journey to escape economic conditions, only for their journey to end at the southern borders.
It is worth noting that Nimroz province, adjacent to the Iranian and Pakistani borders, is considered one of the harshest areas in the world; its terrain consists of sand dunes and arid deserts where summer temperatures exceed 50 degrees Celsius, making traversing it on foot a death-defying adventure.
