تشهد محافظة كوماموتو في جنوب غربي اليابان حالة طوارئ ممتدة بعد الزلزال العنيف الذي ضرب المنطقة بقوة 7.1 درجة، وما تلاه من هزّات ارتدادية وهزّات جديدة تراوحت بين 3.7 و4 درجات خلال الساعات الماضية؛ وفق ما أكدته هيئة الأرصاد اليابانية.

وأسفر الزلزال الرئيسي عن دمار واسع وانهيارات في منازل ومبانٍ تجارية؛ أبرزها الانهيار الجزئي في مركز (إيون مول) التجاري الذي شهد انفجاراً يُعتقد أنه ناجم عن تسرب غاز، ما أدى إلى مقتل امرأتين وإصابة آخرين، إضافة إلى حالات توقف قلبي رُصدت في موقع الحادث، بحسب تقارير محلية رسمية.

وارتفعت حصيلة القتلى تدريجياً مع استمرار عمليات الإنقاذ، إذ أكدت الحكومة اليابانية سقوط ما لا يقل عن 13 قتيلاً في أحدث إحصاء رسمي، بينما تتواصل عمليات البحث عن مفقودين داخل المركز التجاري المنهار وفي مصنع للورق انهارت فيه مدخنة، وسط تقديرات تشير إلى وجود عالقين لم يُحدد عددهم بدقة حتى الآن. كما أعلنت السلطات أن عدد المصابين بلغ عشرات الأشخاص؛ بينهم حالات خطيرة، فيما لجأ أكثر من تسعة آلاف شخص إلى مراكز الإيواء، مع استمرار انقطاع الكهرباء والمياه عن آلاف المنازل في ظل ارتفاع درجات الحرارة التي تزيد من صعوبة الأوضاع الإنسانية.

وتواصل فرق الإنقاذ، بمشاركة الشرطة والإطفاء وقوات الدفاع الذاتي، عمليات البحث وسط دمار واسع شمل جسوراً وطرقاً ومبانٍ سكنية، بينما أوقفت شركات السكك الحديدية خدمات القطارات السريعة وأُجريت فحوصات سلامة في محطات الطاقة النووية القريبة التي لم تُسجّل فيها أي أعطال حتى الآن. وتؤكد السلطات أن الهزّات الارتدادية لا تزال محتملة، وأن تقييم الأضرار مستمر في المناطق الأكثر تضرراً، خصوصاً في كاشيما وأوكي وياتسوشيرو، حيث تركزت البلاغات عن انهيارات وانفجارات وحرائق ناجمة عن الزلزال.

The death toll has gradually risen as rescue operations continue, with the Japanese government confirming at least 13 fatalities in the latest official count, while search operations for missing persons continue inside the collapsed mall and in a paper factory where a chimney collapsed, amid estimates suggesting that there are trapped individuals whose exact number has not yet been determined. Authorities also announced that the number of injured has reached dozens, including serious cases, while more than nine thousand people have sought refuge in shelters, with electricity and water still cut off from thousands of homes amid rising temperatures that complicate the humanitarian situation.

Rescue teams, with the participation of police, firefighters, and self-defense forces, continue search operations amid widespread destruction that includes bridges, roads, and residential buildings, while railway companies have suspended high-speed train services and safety checks have been conducted at nearby nuclear power stations, which have not reported any malfunctions so far. Authorities confirm that aftershocks remain possible, and damage assessments are ongoing in the most affected areas, particularly in Kashima, Oki, and Yatsushiro, where reports of collapses, explosions, and fires caused by the earthquake have been concentrated.
