كشف التقرير السنوي للمعهد الوطني لأبحاث الصحة للعام 2025 حزمةً من التحولات المؤسسية التي تعكس تسارع بناء منظومة وطنية متقدمة للبحث والابتكار الصحي، مدعومة بقرارات تنظيمية، وتوسع في التجارب السريرية، وتطوير للأبحاث الانتقالية، بما يواكب مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030.

ووفقاً للتقرير (اطلعت عليه «عكاظ»)، سجلت السعودية نمواً ملحوظاً في نشاط التجارب السريرية، إذ ارتفع عددها بنسبة 53.4%. وجرى الإطلاق التجريبي للسجل السعودي للتجارب السريرية، في خطوة تستهدف رفع مستوى الشفافية، وتوحيد بيانات الدراسات السريرية.

وأظهر التقرير نجاح مبادرة تسريع إجراءات الموافقة على التجارب السريرية، إذ انخفض متوسط مدة الحصول على الموافقات من 270 يوماً في عام 2023 إلى 108 أيام فقط، بنسبة تحسن بلغت 60%، بالتزامن مع زيادة عدد المواقع المؤهلة لإجراء التجارب السريرية بنسبة 85%، ما يعزز تنافسية المملكة في استقطاب الدراسات البحثية العالمية ويختصر الزمن اللازم لتحويل الأفكار البحثية إلى تطبيقات عملية.

وفي خطوة لإعادة رسم خريطة البحث الصحي في السعودية، أنهى المعهد إعداد الأولويات الوطنية للأبحاث الصحية بعد تحليل نحو 800 مقترح بحثي من خلال 13 مجموعة عمل و15 ورشة تخصصية شارك فيها 74 خبيراً من مختلف القطاعات، وأسفرت الجهود عن اعتماد 17 أولوية بحثية وطنية شملت أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية، والسرطان، والصحة العامة، والأمراض المعدية، وصحة المرأة، والاضطرابات العصبية والنفسية، والأمراض النادرة، وأمراض الكلى والعيون، وغيرها من القضايا ذات الأثر المباشر على صحة المجتمع.

سجل التقرير تقدماً في تنشيط الأولويات البحثية الصحية، إذ جرى تفعيل 22% منها عبر إطلاق 5 فرص تمويل شملت أبحاث الحج، والأبحاث الانتقالية، والتجارب السريرية، والدراسات ما قبل السريرية للمراحل التجريبية النهائية، إضافة إلى الأبحاث الانتقالية في صحة المجتمع، بما يعكس توجيه الجهود البحثية نحو الملفات ذات الأولوية الوطنية.

وفي إطار دعم المجتمع البحثي، أطلق المعهد شبكة «ملتقى الباحثين الصحيين» وتجاوز عدد المسجلين 1,800 باحث وباحثة، بهدف تعزيز التواصل بين الباحثين، وتوسيع فرص التعاون العلمي، وتبادل الخبرات، وبناء شراكات بحثية تسهم في رفع جودة المخرجات العلمية.

The annual report of the National Institute for Health Research for the year 2025 revealed a package of institutional transformations that reflect the acceleration of building an advanced national system for health research and innovation, supported by regulatory decisions, an expansion in clinical trials, and the development of translational research, in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to the report (which was reviewed by "Okaz"), Saudi Arabia recorded a notable growth in clinical trial activity, with the number increasing by 53.4%. The Saudi Clinical Trials Registry was launched in a pilot phase, aiming to enhance transparency and unify data from clinical studies.

The report showed the success of the initiative to expedite the approval processes for clinical trials, as the average time to obtain approvals decreased from 270 days in 2023 to just 108 days, representing an improvement of 60%. This coincided with an 85% increase in the number of qualified sites for conducting clinical trials, enhancing the Kingdom's competitiveness in attracting global research studies and shortening the time required to translate research ideas into practical applications.

In a step to redraw the map of health research in Saudi Arabia, the institute completed the preparation of national health research priorities after analyzing approximately 800 research proposals through 13 working groups and 15 specialized workshops involving 74 experts from various sectors. These efforts resulted in the approval of 17 national research priorities, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, public health, infectious diseases, women's health, neurological and psychological disorders, rare diseases, kidney and eye diseases, and other issues that have a direct impact on community health.

The report recorded progress in activating health research priorities, with 22% of them being activated through the launch of 5 funding opportunities that included research on Hajj, translational research, clinical trials, and preclinical studies for final experimental stages, in addition to translational research in community health, reflecting the direction of research efforts towards files of national priority.

As part of supporting the research community, the institute launched the "Health Researchers Forum" network, with the number of registered researchers exceeding 1,800, aiming to enhance communication among researchers, expand opportunities for scientific collaboration, exchange experiences, and build research partnerships that contribute to improving the quality of scientific outputs.
