شهدت احتفالات القنصلية العامة الفرنسية في جدة هذا العام طابعاً استثنائياً، إذ تزامن الاحتفاء بالعيد الوطني الفرنسي مع مرور 100 عام على العلاقات الثنائية بين المملكة العربية السعودية وفرنسا، في مناسبة وصفها القنصل العام لجمهورية فرنسا بجدة محمد نهاض، بأنها «فرحة مزدوجة»، إلى جانب أجواء التفاؤل التي صاحبت تألق المنتخب الفرنسي في بطولة كأس العالم.

وقال نهاض، في حديث خاص إلى «عكاظ»، خلال الحفل الذي أقيم في «بيت فرنسا» بجدة، إن المناسبة تجمع بين الاحتفال بالعيد الوطني الفرنسي والذكرى المئوية للعلاقات السعودية الفرنسية، مؤكداً أن هذه المحطة تمثل مناسبة تاريخية تعكس عمق الشراكة بين البلدين.

وأبدى القنصل الفرنسي تفاؤله بمشوار منتخب بلاده في كأس العالم، مشيراً إلى أن المنتخب قدم مستويات مميزة منذ انطلاق البطولة، وأن الأداء الذي ظهر به اللاعبون يعكس الثقة والطموح لمواصلة المنافسة.

وأوضح نهاض، أن الحفل تضمن استعراضاً لأبرز المحطات التاريخية في العلاقات السعودية الفرنسية عبر لوحات وثائقية استقبلت الضيوف عند المدخل، من بينها زيارة الملك فيصل بن عبدالعزيز - رحمه الله - إلى فرنسا عام 1973، وزيارة الرئيس الفرنسي السابق فاليري جيسكار ديستان إلى المملكة عام 1977، إلى جانب تأسيس البنك السعودي الفرنسي، وزيارتَي الملك خالد والملك فهد - رحمهما الله - إلى باريس.

واختتم القنصل الفرنسي حديثه بالتأكيد على أن العلاقات بين المملكة وفرنسا تقوم على الثقة والاحترام المتبادل، مشدداً على استمرار العمل لتعزيز التعاون في مختلف المجالات، بما يرسخ الشراكة التاريخية بين البلدين ويفتح آفاقاً أوسع لمستقبلها.

This year, the celebrations at the French Consulate General in Jeddah had an exceptional character, as the celebration of the French National Day coincided with the 100th anniversary of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France. The event was described by the Consul General of the Republic of France in Jeddah, Mohamed Nahad, as a "double joy," alongside the atmosphere of optimism that accompanied the French national team's brilliance in the World Cup.

Nahad stated in a special interview with "Okaz" during the ceremony held at "Maison de France" in Jeddah that the occasion combines the celebration of the French National Day and the centenary of Saudi-French relations, emphasizing that this milestone represents a historic occasion reflecting the depth of the partnership between the two countries.

The French consul expressed his optimism about his country's national team's journey in the World Cup, pointing out that the team has shown remarkable levels since the tournament began, and the performance displayed by the players reflects confidence and ambition to continue competing.

Nahad explained that the ceremony included a showcase of the most significant historical milestones in Saudi-French relations through documentary panels that welcomed guests at the entrance, including the visit of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz - may he rest in peace - to France in 1973, the visit of former French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing to the Kingdom in 1977, as well as the establishment of the Saudi French Bank, and the visits of King Khalid and King Fahd - may they rest in peace - to Paris.

The French consul concluded his remarks by affirming that the relations between the Kingdom and France are based on mutual trust and respect, stressing the continued efforts to enhance cooperation in various fields, which solidifies the historical partnership between the two countries and opens wider horizons for its future.
