كشفت تقارير إعلامية عن أزمة جديدة داخل الاتحاد السنغالي لكرة القدم، بعد اتهامات تتعلق بطريقة التعامل مع إصابة حارس مرمى النادي الأهلي السعودي إدوارد ميندي، التي تعرض لها خلال مشاركة منتخب بلاده في نهائيات كأس العالم 2026.

وأفاد تقرير نشره موقع Sport News Africa، ونقلته وسائل إعلام عدة، بأن ميندي تكفل شخصياً بتكاليف الفحوصات الطبية والعلاج الخاصة بإصابته في الركبة، التي تعرض لها خلال مواجهة السنغال أمام النرويج في دور المجموعات، في ظل عدم وجود تغطية تأمينية للاعبي المنتخب خلال البطولة، بحسب التقرير.

وكان ميندي قد غادر مواجهة النرويج متأثراً بالإصابة في الدقيقة 63، قبل أن يعلن الاتحاد السنغالي غيابه عن بقية مباريات المنتخب في كأس العالم، فيما عاد الحارس إلى مدينة جدة لإجراء فحوصات طبية إضافية لدى النادي الأهلي لتقييم حالته بشكل أدق، قبل أن يلتحق مجدداً بمعسكر منتخب بلاده دون أن يتمكن من استعادة جاهزيته للمشاركة.

A report published by Sport News Africa, and covered by several media outlets, stated that Mendy personally covered the costs of medical examinations and treatment for his knee injury, which he sustained during Senegal's match against Norway in the group stage, due to the lack of insurance coverage for players during the tournament, according to the report.

Mendy had left the match against Norway due to the injury in the 63rd minute, before the Senegalese federation announced his absence from the rest of the team's matches in the World Cup.
