فيما وصفه بأنه سبق صحفي للحاضرين، كشف الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب عزمه الترشح مجدداً للانتخابات الرئاسية القادمة، معلنا أنه سيخوض السباق نحو البيت الأبيض مرة أخرى.

وخلال كلمة ألقاها مساء (الجمعة) في العشاء السنوي لرابطة مراسلي البيت الأبيض بالعاصمة واشنطن، أكد ترمب أمام الحضور أنه يعتزم الترشح لرئاسة الولايات المتحدة مجدداً، مضيفاً أنه اتخذ بالفعل خطوات رسمية في هذا الاتجاه، وجدد التأكيد على أنه قادر على تحقيق الفوز مرة أخرى.

ووصف ترمب إعلان ترشحه بأنه سبق صحفي للحاضرين من ممثلي وسائل الإعلام، في تصريحات اتسمت بنبرة ساخرة تجاه المؤسسات الإعلامية.

وأكد الرئيس الأمريكي ثقته في قدرته على العودة إلى البيت الأبيض، معتبراً أن الفوز في أي استحقاق رئاسي قادم سيكون أمراً ميسوراً بالنسبة له، ومشيداً بأدائه في إدارة شؤون الرئاسة خلال فترتي توليه المنصب.

وأثناء حديثه عن مستقبله السياسي، أخرج ترمب القبعة الحمراء الشهيرة المرتبطة بحملاته الانتخابية وارتداها أمام الحضور، وكانت تحمل شعار «TRUMP 2028»، في إشارة أثارت اهتمام المراقبين والصحفيين الموجودين في القاعة.

ويحظر التعديل الثاني والعشرون للدستور الأمريكي انتخاب أي شخص لمنصب رئيس الولايات المتحدة لأكثر من ولايتين، غير أن تعديل هذا النص يبقى ممكناً عبر إجراءات دستورية معقدة تتطلب دعماً واسعاً داخل الكونغرس والولايات الأمريكية.

وشارك ترمب رابطة مراسلي البيت الأبيض حفل العشاء السنوي الذي أُقيم بعد نحو ثلاثة أشهر من الحفل الرسمي الأول، الذي أُلغي بسبب إطلاق نار في فندق واشنطن هيلتون الذي كان يستضيفه.

ودخل ترمب قاعة الاحتفالات على وقع التصفيق، وتلقى الشكر على دعمه من رئيسة رابطة مراسلي البيت الأبيض ويجيا جيانغ التي قالت: «رسالتنا الليلة هي: لقد عدنا. لن نكون خائفين. نرفض أن تكون الكلمة الأخيرة لعمل من أعمال العنف».

وكان قد تقرر إلغاء حفل العشاء الرسمي، الذي أُقيم في 25 أبريل الماضي بحضور صحفيين وسياسيين ومسؤولين في الإدارة الأمريكية، بعد أن اقتحم رجل نقطة تفتيش أمنية، وأطلق النار من بندقية خارج القاعة التي كان فيها ترمب وأعضاء من إدارته.

وقالت المتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض كارولاين ليفيت في بيان صحفي: «في أبريل، وعد الرئيس ترمب بإتمام المهمة وتنظيم عشاء آخر لرابطة مراسلي البيت الأبيض، واليوم سيفي بهذا الوعد».

وأُقيم حفل العشاء في فندق والدورف أستوريا، وسط إجراءات أمنية مشددة، وقال مدير جهاز الخدمة السرية شون كوران للصحفيين إن فريقاً ينفّذ خطة أمنية شاملة في الفندق.

وشُوهد كوران عند مدخل الفندق وهو يراقب وصول الضيوف، قبل أن يتجول في البهو الرئيسي للفندق.

وأغلقت الشرطة وعناصر الحرس الوطني الطرق المحيطة بالموقع، وأقامت طوقاً أمنياً واسعاً، مع أن إجراءات تفتيش الضيوف اقتصرت على تدقيق سريع نسبياً.

During a speech delivered on (Friday) evening at the annual dinner of the White House Correspondents' Association in Washington, Trump confirmed to the audience that he intends to run for the presidency of the United States again, adding that he has already taken official steps in this direction, and reiterated his belief that he is capable of winning once more.

Trump described his announcement of candidacy as a scoop for the attendees from the media, in remarks that were marked by a sarcastic tone towards media institutions.

The U.S. President expressed confidence in his ability to return to the White House, considering that winning any upcoming presidential contest would be an easy matter for him, praising his performance in managing presidential affairs during his two terms in office.

While discussing his political future, Trump took out the famous red hat associated with his election campaigns and wore it in front of the audience, which bore the slogan "TRUMP 2028," a gesture that piqued the interest of the observers and journalists present in the hall.

The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits any person from being elected to the office of President of the United States for more than two terms; however, amending this text remains possible through complex constitutional procedures that require broad support within Congress and the U.S. states.

Trump participated in the White House Correspondents' Association's annual dinner held about three months after the first official dinner, which was canceled due to a shooting at the Washington Hilton Hotel that was hosting it.

Trump entered the banquet hall to applause and received thanks for his support from the President of the White House Correspondents' Association, Weijia Jiang, who said: "Our message tonight is: We are back. We will not be afraid. We refuse to let the last word be that of an act of violence."

The official dinner, which took place on April 25, had been canceled after a man breached a security checkpoint and opened fire with a rifle outside the hall where Trump and members of his administration were present.

White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated in a press release: "In April, President Trump promised to complete the mission and organize another dinner for the White House Correspondents' Association, and today he will fulfill that promise."

The dinner was held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, amid tight security measures, and Secret Service Director Sean Curran told reporters that a team was implementing a comprehensive security plan at the hotel.

Curran was seen at the hotel entrance monitoring the arrival of guests before strolling through the hotel's main lobby.

The police and National Guard closed the roads surrounding the venue and established a wide security perimeter, although the guest screening procedures were limited to relatively quick checks.
